Newton County's 2023 FALL Property Taxes are due November 13, 2023      (Remember you will only receive 1 tax bill for the year. Both Spring & Fall coupons are on statement.)

**At this time, payments can be made in several ways**

  • DROP BOX - 24-hour outdoor dropbox located by the handicap entrance on the west side of the Courthouse;
  • MAIL PAYMENT - 201 N. Third St, Kentland, IN 47951 - Must be Postal Service postmarked by November 13, 2023. (Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope if you would like a receipt)
  • LOCAL BANKS - Please make sure to have your payment coupon or a copy of it when paying at any of these branches: Kentland Bank (Kentland, Lake Village and Roselawn Branches), Fowler State Bank (Kentland Branch), DeMotte State Bank (Morocco Branch), Community State Bank (Brook), First Financial (Goodland Branch)
  • PAY BY PHONE - 1-219-474-6081 ext. 1300 for Treasurer's Office (we use the same link in our office as the one below.)
  • ONLINE - Click this link www.CertifiedPayments.com (make/find payments; Bureau 4634964) or click the "Pay Online" link below and it will take you directly to the payment page.
  • IN OUR OFFICE located at 201 N. Third St., Kentland - Hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. CST Monday thru Friday.

If your taxes are escrowed, it will say "For Informational Purposes Only" across the remittance coupons and is for your information only and doesn't need to be paid by you.

You can pay your Tax Payments with cash, credit card (service fee will apply, see below) or electronic check payments (service fee will apply, see below). Payments made in office or via telephone or online are all made with the same company.

The Treasurer's Office offers the convenience of accepting credit cards for Tax Payments. The payment processing company charges a service fee of 2.45% or $2.00 minimum to cardholders who use this service. Just stop by our office or give us a call at (219) 474-6081 ext. 1300 to use your credit card.

Now you can pay your Tax Payments from the comfort of your home or office by using our online payment service. Credit Cards accepted: Mastercard, Discover, American Express or Visa. A per transaction service fee of 2.45% or $2.00 minimum will be charged by the payment processing company for this service. 

Electronic Check Payments:

The Treasurer's Office now accepts electronic check payments using our online payment service. Payments will be charged to your checking or savings account at your bank. You will need your  9-digit routing number, as well as your account number from your personal checks. A per transaction service fee of $1.50 will be charged by the payment processing company for this service. (Important: When payment options appears, click on the "Switch to Pay with Check" link and then continue entering you information).

If any circumstances have changed that would make you ineligible for a deduction (located in Table 5 of your statement), please contact the Auditor's Office.


The Treasurer's Office is a constitutional office that requires and election every four years. The position is limited to two terms in 12 years. The Treasurer is responsible for balancing all banking transactions of the County; making deposits, transferring funds, investment of funds, ensuring that all County funds are in balance.

The responsibilities include: Collection of property taxes (real estate-personal-mobile home); issue mobile home moving permits and verify taxes for alcohol beverage permits; prepare annual real estate tax sale and collection of delinquent personal property taxes and judgments; prepare lender list of mortgage companies; verify public employees taxes and collection of any delinquent taxes.

The offices of the Assessor, Auditor and Treasurer must work closely together. Taxpayers are encouraged to use information provided by all of these offices on the county government website.
