Victim Assistance

The Newton County Prosecutor’s Office houses a victim assistance department, which acts as a liaison between the victim of a crime, police officers, and/or social service agencies. This department serves to keep the victim informed of court dates, any updates on the case, and basic criminal justice information. When deemed necessary, we give the victim referrals to outside agencies. It is also this department’s responsibility to gather information that can be used to the aid of the victim. If you have questions or would like additional information on the role of the Victim Assistance Department, call the Newton County Prosecutor’s Office at (219) 474-5777.
